Kilmarnock vs Rangers Match Preview
Rangers travel to Kilmarnock in good spirits after beating Hamilton (1-4) in FA Cup and hope to build on the performance in the final third, made comfortable only with rather late goals from Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield. They have regained confidence and will now hope for Celtic’s slip-ups, desperate to extend their unbeaten streak here.
Gers beat Ross County (2-0) and Hibernian (2-1) since late January but were held off by Aberdeen (0-0) in a game where the fans must have felt lucky to end up with a point in the bag. Steven Gerrard’s men have a lot to prove and Rugby Park feels like a good place to start doing so, with a seven-point gap to pace-setters and a game in hand.
Kilmarnock held Aberdeen to an FA Cup draw (0-0) over the weekend and prove themselves a tough side to beat lately, turning very exciting games against Ross County (3-1) and Hearts (2-3) their way. They’ve been scoring goals quite regularly and we expect them motivated to cope, despite seeing their streak of five games with at least a goal ended.
Killie have struggled for consistency in front of the home fans and this will be more worrying as they look to battle for a top 6 spot. They sit a point behind 6th placed Hibernian but also have St Johnstone and Ross County breathing down their necks, which will make every point precious at the moment.
We don’t see them shooting down Rangers, though, and we’ll now stick our necks out for the visitors to turn another narrow contest their way. We’ll thus go for a one-goal Winning Margin at 5/2 with bet365, which feels like a lively longshot.
We do expect excitement and we should be in for goals. We’ve seen Kilmarnock scoring on the regular and with hope Rangers will outgun them to secure the points, we’re also backing a Yes on Both teams to score at 6/5 with BetVictor.
