Kilmarnock vs Celtic Match Preview
Celtic travel to Kilmarnock for their Matchday 26 Premiership clash on Sunday afternoon looking to take revenge for a 2-1 loss suffered at Rugby Park in September and build on a six-point gap at the top of the table – after finally finding consistency and bagging seven consecutive wins since mid-January.
Bhoys come into the match just days after their mid-week Europa League clash against Valencia, where they look to build on a convincing 5-0 win over St. Johnstone (5-0) in FA Cup. Brendan Rodgers’ men thus kept their seventh clean sheet in a row too and while six of those came at Celtic Park, it feels they’re in top shape at this point.
Kilmarnock will be no easy rivals to beat and they’ve shown that on many occasions at this ground this term, last holding Rangers to a goalless draw in FA Cup. They’ve seen a four-match winless streak too and this will be more worrying, as they snatched points at Aberdeen (0-0) and Dundee (2-2) but suffered a 1-2 loss to Hearts here.
Killie have been scoring goals on the regular and were led by an in-form Eamonn Brophy up front, which will have them just as confident in search of another upset in front of the home fans. However, doing so against Celtic should now prove even more of a challenge as the visitors boast great team spirits.
We will thus back Celtic to secure all three points in an exciting contest as we go for an Away win and a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at an enticing 12/5 with Ladbrokes. We’ve seen them scoring and conceding away from home on the regular and this feels like more than just a lively longshot.
With that in mind, it’s easy to make a case for another high-scoring head-to-head clash and going for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 5/6 with BetVictor looks like great value. We’ve seen such contests in both of the sides’ last two encounters and we’re going for a third in a row.
