Kazakhstan vs Cyprus Match Preview
Kazakhstan have seen a narrow yet very disappointing 1-0 loss in Russia, where Mario Fernandes found a late winner at Stadion Kaliningrad and extended the gap between the sides to eight points. Michal Bilek’s men now host Cyprus, looking to bounce to the winning ways quickly and keep themselves in the chase.
Hawks snatched a 1-1 draw in Cyprus beforehand and will now hope to show more in front of the home fans at Astana Arena, where they suffered just one loss (0-4 thrashing in the hands of Russia) in six outings across competitions and already comfortably beat Scotland (3-0) and San Marino (4-0) in the Qualifiers.
Cyprus have, on the other hand, beaten San Marino (0-4) as Ioannis Kousoulos (x2), Fotios Papoulis, and Kostakis Artymatas all made it on the scoresheet. They’ve thus ended a four-match winless streak, struggling for such consistency in the final third – with just one goal bagged along the way.
Ran Ben Shimon’s men have as many points, though, and they’ll now want to jump the rivals to the 3rd spot in Group I with an upset on the day. Still, their struggles when away from home will feel worrying despite scoring on the regular – as their defensive slip-ups made it hard to capitalize.
We now expect another exciting contest but we don’t feel the visitors have what it takes to snatch points. We’ll thus back Kazakhstan to secure all three in a Home win priced at 11/10 with Ladbrokes and hope to see them outgun the visitors in Astana.
We should be in for goals and with that in mind, we’re now also going for a high-scoring occasion with Over 2.5 Goals FT at an eye-catching 27/20 with Coral, which looks like great value as the sides regularly enjoy such games at home and on the road, respectively.
