Juventus vs Inter Milan Match Preview
These teams are playing catch-up in the International Champions Cup – and we are backing them to both have their chances of winning the competition ended by a draw in China.
At the time of writing on Tuesday evening, the minimum requirement to be crowned overall victors of this 12-team event was two wins in 90 minutes which Arsenal had already achieved. The Gunners had the chance to raise the bar even higher when they played Real Madrid in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Results are not the be-all and end-all for Juventus and Inter Milan at this stage of pre-season, but you can be sure these Italian rivals will want to get one over on the other before domestic hostilities begin again towards the end of next month.
Further spice is, of course, provided by the managerial connections between these clubs – new Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri was, of course, the successor at Chelsea to Antonio Conte, who is now in charge of Inter and previously led the Turin giants to the first three of their eight consecutive Serie A titles.
Both lost their opener in this competition to English opposition last weekend, with Inter looking decidedly short of match practice as they were beaten 1-0 in Singapore by a goal from Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood.
Juventus, meanwhile, were involved in a thriller at the same venue the following day, going 2-1 up against Tottenham through goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo but eventually succumbing 3-2 as Lucas Moura and a Harry Kane wonder strike turned it around.
Each team should be sharper for the outing but with Inter also having had a run-out in the Swiss city of Lugano before travelling to Asia, their fitness advantage may just enable them to hold Juventus to a draw.
