Italy vs Finland Match Preview
Italy host Finland for their EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash looming to make an immediate impact in Group J, with a lot to prove after a disappointing World Cup Qualifiers campaign and only surviving in Nations League A with an unpredictable spell of form.
Azzurri have beaten Poland (0-1) and United States (1-0) and held off both Ukraine (1-1) and Portugal (0-0) along the way, which promises Roberto Mancini’s men in good spirits on the day. They’ve been rock-solid at the back and building on such records as they host Finland on Saturday will surely be an important task.
Finland have, on the other hand, seen a disappointing finish to their Nations League campaign as they saw Greece (1-0) and Hungary (2-0) bag the points – struggling to bounce back with a narrow friendly win over Sweden (0-1) and loss to Estonia (1-2) with rotated line-ups on both occasions.
Huuhkajat have largely struggled to score goals on the road and failed to snatch positive results as a direct consequence, despite some rock-solid defensive displays along the way. They’ve seen two or fewer goals in ten of their last twelve trips and we now hope for another narrow occasion at Dacia Arena.
We will still back Italy to secure the points and do so in a Home win to Nil, which comes at 3/4 with William Hill. We’ve seen them base their success on such performances lately and this feels like a generous banker bet at this point.
We don’t feel they’re in for an easy task, though, and with hope we’ll see Finland put on a solid challenge here as well – we’re backing Under 2.5 Goals FT at 13/20 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen the visitors regularly put on tough defensive displays on the road too and this feels like buying money for old rope as well.
