Ipswich vs Gillingham Match Preview
Ipswich host Gillingham for their Matchday 23 clash with a horror run behind them as they not only fell victims to Coventry (1-2), Bristol Rovers (1-2), and Portsmouth (1-0) as they crashed out of FA Cup and dropped out of the League One top 2, but Paul Lambert’s men felt out of shape and chemistry.
Tractor Boys now haven’t bagged a home win since early October and saw three losses and three draws in six outings since, despite finding the net at least once on four of those occasions. They will now hope to pick it up defensively and finally capitalize at Portman Road, promising a strong challenge despite their woes of recent.
Gillingham have picked it up lately and sit five points behind the league’s top 6, boasting better team spirits at this point. They bagged three wins in their last four outings, making their way past Doncaster (3-0) in FA Cup and beating Sunderland (1-0) and MK Dons (3-1) in League One – all in front of the home fans.
However, Gills have a lot to prove on the road and the unconvincing draw at Fleetwood (1-1) where Alex Jakubiak found the late equalizer will hardly be as much of a boost to their confidence. They have still scored four goals on their last five trips and will hope to keep it up at Portman Road despite more troubles to turn away clashes their way.
We do see them making an impact but we feel Ipswich will now finally bounce and manage a narrow win over the rivals, as we go for a Home win at 37/40 with BetVictor. We hope to see the home side capitalize on the rivals’ inconsistency on the road and challenge the top 2 once again.
However, we’re certainly in for much more of a contest this time around and we feel this will come nowhere close to a 4-0 win Ipswich bagged here back in October. With such hopes in mind, we’re also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 11/10 with William Hill.
