Ipswich suffered a second defeat in their last three on Wednesday evening as they lost 2-0 on the road to Brentford. It means that anything other than a victory here and they will be relegated and even that might not be enough with other results. Town could perhaps set themselves a target of at least not finishing bottom as they sit just five offf Bolton in 23rd.

At Portman Road, the Tractor Boys are winless in six though three of these fixtures have finished all-square. Just one of the last seven played here have gone over 2.5 goals with just 13 combined from the previous seven. In each of their last five at their own place the Suffolk side have conceded in the first half.

Birmingham picked up a useful point on Wednesday evening as they battled out a 1-1 draw with high-flying Sheffield United. They are 17th and though not mathematically safe the gap of six points and the number of teams below them means it would take a freak set of results for them to go down. They do face four of their five remaining matches against the bottom five so they have their fate in their own hands.

Away from St Andrew’s, the Blues have lost each of their last three though all have come against top-half opponents. I like the look of Birmngham to win this game and put further distance between themselves and the bottom three. They will be full of confidence after four points from meetings with Leeds and Sheffield United while Ipswich know that they are down no matter what the result here.

Harlee Dean was a real threat at set-pieces in midweek and he looks a value selection to net at any time here against an Ipswich side vulnerable to set-piece goals.
