Inter Milan vs Sampdoria Match Preview

Sampdoria have a good record of scoring goals away from home this season – and that could help them gain a positive result on their second trip of the campaign to the San Siro district.

Two goals were not quite enough to earn the Genoa-based club a point away to AC Milan as they conceded three times, but only once in nine matches since September have Sampdoria failed to score on their travels.

They have been involved in high-scoring draws at Lazio and Fiorentina during that time and have a striker in Fabio Quagliarella who, at the age of 36, is rolling back the years with a fantastic campaign in which he has bagged 16 goals already.

Inter, meanwhile, have a problem regarding their star marksman. Mauro Icardi is involved in a contract stand-off with the club and has been stripped of the captaincy, being left out of the squad for Thursday’s Europa League game against Rapid Vienna (result not known at the time of writing).

The Nerazzurri have not been prolific scorers recently anyway and we think they would be vulnerable here even with Icardi in the side – and even more so if the Argentine continues to be excluded.
