Hungary vs Uruguay Match Preview
Hungary host Uruguay for their Friendly clash as they open the newly built Puskas Arena in Budapest on Friday evening, looking to bag an important win and pick up their team spirits ahead of the EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash in Wales – where they’ll surely have everything to play for in search of a top 2 finish in Group E.
Magyars have beaten Azerbaijan last time out as Mihaly Korhut found an early opener and it proved enough for all three points, as Marco Rossi’s men ended a three-match losing streak. They’ve seen a friendly loss to Montenegro (2-1) while both Slovakia (1-2) and Croatia (3-0) snatched the points in September and October, respectively, which will have them desperate for a confidence booster.
Uruguay have, on the other hand, seen a four-match unbeaten streak since their Copa America exit and they hope to build on such consistency late in 2019 as well. They’ve beaten Costa Rica (1-2) and held off United States (1-1) back in September, building on the success in two clashes against Peru in October – beating them 1-0 at home and snatching a 1-1 draw in Lima.
La Celeste have struggled to impress in the final third without Cavani, Suarez, and Stuani, which was surely at least part of the reason they’ve been called up for their trip to Budapest. We now hope to see them in good spirits moving forward and this should make for an exciting contest on the day.
However, we feel Hungary have a lot more to play for and we’ll now stick our necks out for them to open the new ground with a win. They’ve been very tough to deny in front of the home fans and we feel Magyars will now be able to build on such performances here as well.
Still, Uruguay will be no sitting ducks. They’ve been scoring goals on the regular despite failing to score numbers of goals along the way, which has us hoping for more of the same. We’ll thus also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which caught the eye of many as a great approach to the fixture.
