Hull vs Reading Match Preview
Hull kept alive their slim play-off hopes at the weekend with a 2-0 victory at Ipswich that the expected goals data suggests they were fortunate to get. The result means that they sit 12thin the table and are six points away from Villa who are sixth and occupying the last play-off spot in the Championship. They now have back-to-back home games against sides in the bottom six and must take advantage of this.
At the KC Stadium, the Tigers are flying winning seven and drawing three of their last ten in the league. In each of these ten fixtures they have managed to net at least two goals and a combined total of 24. Jarrod Bowen in particular loves it in front of his own fans and has 12 goals in his last eight here.
Reading picked up a crucial three points in their battle to avoid the drop last weekend defeating Preston 2-1. It moves them into 19thin the table and puts four points between them and 22nd. They do though face a tricky run in with each of their last seven coming against teams above them with four against teams in the current top eight.
Away from the Madejski Stadium, the Royals have struggled this season winning on just two occasions one of which was at bottom side Ipswich. A lack of road goals is an issue with them blanking in three of their last four and combining for just five from the last 12. Four of their last seven on their travels have been level going into the break.
A look at the league tables and home and away form means I imagine that the hosts will be a popular bet to win this fixture. That being said I would be cautious as Hull were lucky to beat bottom side Ipswich last weekend while Reading stopped high-flying Preston and deserved to do so.
Both sides will have identified this as one of their more winnable games remaining and as such three points will be important. I think this could lead to an open second-half and I am backing this to be the highest scoring 45 minutes and over 1.5 goals in this time frame
