Hull v Stoke Match Preview
Hull City seem to rebuilding their reputation as a solid Championship club under Nigel Adkins so far this season. After suffering relegation from the Premier League two seasons ago, the beginning of last season under former Russia manager Leonid Slutsky was disastrous and so Nigel Adkins came in to lead the club away from the relegation zone and he’s done a fine job over the last 12 months of getting a struggling side out of a real rut.
Recent home form has been very strong for the Tigers and they come into this game having won their last four matches at the KCOM Stadium, seeing them rise to a comfortable position in midtable but with rumours abound that star striker Jarrod Bowen may leave before the end of the January transfer window and after a thumping 3-0 defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers last time out they will be keen to return to winning ways here at 17/10 with Betway.
Stoke City have not been the dominant force in the Championship many expected them to be this season. The Potters were surprisingly relegated from the Premier League last season and after hiring highly-rated boss Gary Rowett from Derby County and signing some high-profile players for the second tier, they were the favourites to go back up at the first time of asking but instead they find themselves in the bottom half of the table with 29 games on the board.
With Rowett unsurprisingly shown the door recently, the Staffordshire club have turned to Luton Town boss Nathan Jones to make the step up, but there has yet to been a real upturn in fortunes for the Welsh boss and his side as they make the trip to Humberside on Saturday having won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and having not won on the road since October. Can they end that run with three points here at 9/5 with Betfair.
We can see the hosts flexing their muscles on home soil once again in this game. The Tigers have won their last four home games and conceded just one goal in that run, so we can see their strong defence coming out on top again here against a Stoke side that failed to find the net again in a home defeat at the hands of Preston North End last weekend. The home win to nil bet is available at odds of 7/2 with BetVictor.
Jarrod Bowen is expected to stay at Hull City for the time and he comes into this match in great form. The young forward has been the star turn in this Tigers outfit this season, racking up 14 Championship goals including five strikes in his last three games at the KCOM Stadium. We can’t resist the tasty 11/5 on offer from Unibet for another goal from the in-form striker here.
