Hull City vs Sheffield Wednesday Match Preview
Steve Bruce’s last-but-one club hosts his next employers as Hull aim to maintain their superb Championship form against their Yorkshire rivals.
Bruce took Hull up to the Premier League twice before leaving in 2016 and will hope to earn another promotion – although probably not this season – when he starts work at Sheffield Wednesday on February 1 after he has fulfilled pre-arranged commitments to his family.
In the meantime, his trusted lieutenants Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew are holding the fort with the Owls who are unbeaten since they sacked Jos Luhukay just before Christmas.
That improvement in form gives Wednesday a chance against Hull, who have transformed themselves from being relegation candidates to play-off dark horses by winning seven of their last nine league games and drawing the other two.
The Tigers have suddenly started scoring plenty of goals and they have a real emerging talent in young forward Jarrod Bowen, who has been linked with top Premier League clubs during a campaign in which he has scored 11 times.
Nigel Adkins’ side have taken some impressive scalps on their current run, including table-toppers Leeds away and Swansea, but Wednesday are also proving a tough nut to crack just now after their change of leadership and we are backing this contest to finish all-square.
