Hearts vs Rangers Match Preview
Hearts shocked Rangers (2-1) in late January and now host the rivals for their FA Cup clash in hope they can cause another such upset in front of the home fans. However, they haven’t been able to show off their confidence since and we feel Daniel Stendel will have trouble setting it up.
Jam bagged just one win in five outings since, making their way to the Quarter-finals over Falkirk (0-1) where Sean Clare converted a penalty early in the second half. They’ve seen a thrashing 5-0 loss at Celtic and only held on to a 2-2 draw against Hamilton with a second-half comeback orchestrated by Jamie Walker and Craig Halkett.
This hardly feels like a great boost to their confidence and they will need more as they host in-form Rangers, who just made their way to Europa League 8th Finals over Braga (4-2 on aggregate). Steven Gerrard’s men seemingly rediscovered consistency and they will want more of the same in Edinburgh.
Gers haven’t really been able to connect a series of positive results on the road and they’ve seen Kilmarnock (2-1 loss) and St Johnstone (2-2 draw) deny them important points on their last two Premiership trips. They have been scoring goals on the regular but will need more and we expect them motivated to deliver.
We will thus back the visitors to turn an exciting game their way and we’ll go for an Away win and a Yes on Both teams to score, which combined to an enticing 2/1 with Paddy Power and looks like a good approach to the fixture.
With that in mind, we’re also making a case for a high-scoring occasion at Tynecastle Park and we’ll go for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/6 with William Hill. We’ve seen Gers enjoying such games on the regular and we’re now hoping they can keep it up.
