Hearts vs Hibernian Match Preview
Hearts have seen four consecutive losses since early December and sit rock-bottomed as they host Hibernian for their Matchday 20 clash on Boxing Day, looking to bounce and close the ten-point gap to the top 6. They’ve had trouble scoring goals on the regular and this could be just as worrying, as Daniel Stendel looks to make an immediate impact.
Indeed, Jam now come into the match with a 2-1 loss at Hamilton Academical behind them, where Oliver Bozanic’s late goal proved nothing more than a consolation as their first goal under the new manager. They will now hope to do more in front of the home fans and the spirits will surely be running high.
Hibernian come into the match with two comfortable losses to Celtic (2-0) and Rangers (0-3), where they failed to cope with the big guns and build on a 3-0 win over Aberdeen seen beforehand. They have been scoring away goals quite regularly, though, and will hope to do the same now.
Hibs can’t really boast great records against the city rivals, though, and they’ve earned just one win in six head-to-head clashes since May 2018. They’ve seen three losses and two draws along the way, despite scoring goals on all of the last three occasions. We now hope to see them motivated to bounce but we don’t see them returning to the winning ways.
We will now rather stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils at Tynecastle Park and we’ll go for a Draw at 12/5 with William Hill, which would be the third such occasion in six Edinburgh derbies since 2018.
We do feel we should be in for goals once again too and with that in mind, we’re also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365. We’ve seen both sides struggling defensively on many occasions and this sounds like further evidence for such a bet.
