Granada vs Barcelona Match Preview
Lionel Messi made a cameo return to action this week and his domestic seasonal debut is expected at Granada – as Barcelona seek a first away win of the season at the fourth attempt.
The Argentine maestro has been sidelined with a calf injury sustained in pre-season training and was only fit enough to play for the first time in a 31-minute substitute’s outing in the 0-0 Champions League draw away to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
His recovery is of huge importance to Barca, as ever, but even more so now because they have drawn two and lost the other of their three matches so far this term away from Camp Nou – where they have won both their games 5-2.
Granada, meanwhile, spent 35 years outside the Primeira Division before they were promoted in 2011, had six years in the top flight until they were relegated and then bounced back at the second time of asking last season.
Having played three of their first four games away from home, Diego Martinez’s side will be pleased with their return of seven points so far which includes back-to-back decisive wins to nil against Espanyol and Celta Vigo either side of the international break.
Those results suggest Barcelona may not have things all their own way here, especially given their unconvincing form on the road, but with Messi back to inspire them the Spanish champions are fancied to get an away victory on the board.
