Granada vs Athletic Bilbao Match Preview
Athletic Bilbao travel to Granada for the return match of their Copa del Rey clash on the back of a 1-0 home win over the rivals, where Muniain found the net late in the first half to secure a one-goal advantage in a rather dominant display. They will now hope to capitalize despite an unpredictable run and we expect them very motivated to make their way to the Final.
Lions beat Villarreal (1-0) on Sunday and ended a streak of two losses after seeing Osasuna (0-1) and Alaves (2-1) snatch important points. They struggled to convert their chances and saw it costly on both occasions, which will be more worrying. Gaizka Garitano’s men bagged two wins in last five away games but they only came on penalties against Elche (1-1) and Tenerife (3-3), which leaves them with a lot to prove.
Granada have proven themselves a tough nut to crack at Los Carmenes on many occasions and we’ve seen them beat Mallorca (1-0), Espanyol (2-1), Valencia (2-1), and Valladolid (2-1) in 2020 before a goalless draw against Celta Vigo ended the winning streak last week.
Nasrids beat Valladolid (2-1) and Osasuna (0-3) in two high-scoring games beforehand and they’ll now want to bounce to such a goalscoring spell quickly, with an obvious need to go for an early goal here. We do expect them to show off in front of the home fans but it’s questionable if this will be enough to make their way past Bilbao.
We will still back Granada to beat the rivals here and we’ll go for a Home win at 17/10 with William Hill, which feels like great value seeing their form at this ground and Bilbao’s struggles to retain consistency – which was especially visible on the road.
We should be in for a more exciting occasion with goals this time around and Lions will want to have their say in it. With that in mind, we’re also going for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 6/4 with William Hill and hoping an early opener could mean a high-scoring contest.
