Girona vs Valencia Match Preview
Valencia travel to Girona for their Matchday 27 clash on Sunday afternoon, just days after taking on Krasnodar in Europa League as they look to build on an 11-match unbeaten streak across competitions – lagging just a point behind 6th placed Sevilla after 26 games played.
Los Che have beaten Real Betis (1-0) and Athletic Bilbao (2-0) in two narrow outings in front of the home fans but have struggled more to turn clashes on the road their way, seeing draws at Barcelona (2-2), Betis (2-2), Leganes (1-1) and beating Celtic (0-2) in Europa League along the way.
Girona have, on the other hand, kept up their great team spirits with wins over Real Madrid (1-2) and Rayo Vallecano (0-2) in La Liga as well as Barcelona (0-1) in Supercopa de Catalunya – only holding Real Sociedad to a goalless draw in the process.
Interestingly, Gironistes have struggled to score goals on the regular at this ground and this will be more worrying, after failing to find the net in three of the last four home outings. They have proven themselves a tough nut to crack but still have a lot to prove as they host the top 6 chasers in hope they can join the chase themselves.
We do feel they have what it takes to hold off the rivals and we’ll stick with a Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 8/15 with Paddy Power, which feels like buying money for old rope at this point.
However, we feel they’ll have to base such success on a tough defensive display before everything else and with that in mind, we’ll also back a low-scoring clash with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 8/11 with bet365.
