Gillingham vs West Ham Match Preview
West Ham travel to Gillingham for their FA Cup clash on the back of a great 4-0 win over Bournemouth (4-0) where Mark Noble (x2), Sebastien Haller, and Felipe Anderson all made it on the scoresheet. They now hope to build on the performance and connect two wins in a row for the first time since August, looking for a ticket to the 4th Round.
Hammers have struggled for goalscoring consistency on the road and netted just three in their last six away games, but this has earned them wins at Chelsea (0-1) and Southampton (0-1) since late November. David Moyes will hope League One rivals will not be the same sort of a challenge but Gills will surely be no sitting ducks either.
Gillingham come into the match with a seven-match unbeaten streak behind them, bagging four wins and three draws along the way including a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth on New Year’s – where Alex Jakubiak found the late equalizer. They have been tough to score against at this ground and will want to show off as such a side once again.
Steve Evans’ men conceded just two goals in their last eight home outings and Priestfield has been a tough fort to conquer for many, with seven wins earned along the way. Gills do have a lot to prove in search of consistency overall and we don’t really see them doing that against the Premier League rivals.
We will thus stick with West Ham to secure the ticket to the next round in a rather narrow contest looming, as we go for an Away win to Nil at 2/1 with BetVictor which feels like the best value in the market at this point.
We don’t really see this as a very one-sided contest in the making, though, and we do hope to see a solid challenge from Gillingham. With that in mind, we’re also hoping for few goals and going for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 23/20 with bet365.
