Gillingham vs Charlton Match Preview
Charlton travel to Gillingham for their Matchday 45 clash on Saturday looking for a double over the rivals, after bagging a 2-0 home win earlier this term with first-half goals from Ben Reeves and Tarique Fosu. They’ve been in great shape lately and now have a lot to build on as well.
Indeed, Addicks have beaten Scunthorpe United with four goals to Nil on Monday, bouncing back to their winning streak after a disappointing 2-1 loss at Oxford seen last week – which ended a series of four consecutive wins where they beat Bradford (1-0), Plymouth (0-2), Wycombe (0-1), Luton (3-1) and kept clean sheets on three of those occasions.
Gillingham have beaten Plymouth (3-1) last time out at this ground and will now want a similar challenge but they’ve seen a more disappointing 1-1 draw at rock-bottomed Bradford earlier this term, where a second-half equalizer from Brandon Hanlan saved a point.
Gills have proven themselves a tough side to beat at Priestfield Stadium but the win over Plymouth only ended a three-match winless streak here too, which will feel more worrying. Indeed, they’ve struggled to keep it together at the back and will now need more to beat Charlton.
We don’t see them doing so, though, and we’ll now rather stick with the visitors to snatch all three points – as we go for an Away win at 11/10 with Paddy Power. They’ve been in great shape lately and we feel they’ll be able to show it on Saturday as well.
Lee Bowyer has set up a tough defensive display and could want his men to build on such an approach once again, as we hope for a narrow occasion with few goals between the sides with Under 2.5 Goals FT attracting attention at Evens with bet365.
