Fulham vs Newcastle United Match Preview
Fulham have found their best form of the season way too late to save them from relegation, but can give themselves further optimism for next term by beating Newcastle.
After winning only four of their first 33 Premier League games, the Cottagers then reeled off three victories in a row, all to nil, as Scott Parker became the only one of the club’s three managers this season to concoct any sort of successful formula.
A 1-0 defeat at Wolves last weekend stopped Fulham in their tracks, but they had much more of the ball in that game without creating too much and they should also dominate possession here – so it’s all about whether they have enough of a cutting edge up front.
Ryan Babel scored each time as Parker’s side won both of their last two home fixtures and the Dutchman could be a key figure again, in what is expected to be his final appearance before heading back to Turkey where he has played for most of the previous six years.
Newcastle had also been in good form before conceding that late Divock Origi winner for Liverpool last Saturday.
The Magpies have a decent chance of finishing off with a win, but their recent record at Craven Cottage is poor (see stats above) and we will back Fulham to again show they could be a force back in the Championship if they can retain much of their important personnel.
