France vs Iceland Match Preview
France host Iceland for their EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash on Monday evening, just days after their trip to Moldova, as they look to kick off the campaign in front of the home fans in good spirits – keeping hold of their consistency here despite a somewhat unpredictable Nations League campaign.
Les Bleus have been held by the rivals to a thriller 2-2 draw in an October friendly but we’ve seen them beat both Germany (2-1) and Uruguay (1-0) in two outings since, so we feel Didier Deschamps’ men will be in a great mood once again. They boast an in-form attacking line and the visitors should have their hands full at the back.
Iceland have also been far from convincing lately as they struggled in a Nations League, dropping to League B from a group shared with Switzerland and Belgium. They’ve struggled to lift their team spirits since too with just draws in friendly clashes against Qatar (2-2), Sweden (2-2), and Estonia (0-0).
Strakarnir Okkar haven’t seen a win since January 2018 and while they have a chance to get one on their trip to Andorra on Friday, getting one at Stade de France will be a very tough task. They’ve been scoring goals on the road and this will be encouraging, but we don’t feel they have enough to outgun the rivals here.
We’ll thus back France to turn another exciting head-to-head clash their way going for a Home win and Over 2.5 Goals FT, which combines to an enticing 20/23 with Paddy Power and looks the best approach to the fixture at this point.
We don’t feel we’re in for a one-sided contest and with that in mind, we’re also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 5/4 with bet365. We haven’t really seen France confident at the back and we thus hope for Iceland to do their bit in making this a thriller as well.
