Torino’s push for a European place this season suffered a jolt with a shock home defeat last time out – but at least they have an excellent record of avoiding being beaten on their travels.
The team now coached by former Watford manager Walter Mazzarri had taken 17 points from a possible 21 before their 3-2 loss to relegation-threatened Bologna, a result which means they are now looking at Europa League qualification as a much more realistic option than the Champions League.
But at least the Maroons can travel to Florence knowing they have been defeated only once away from home in Serie A this term, albeit they have drawn the vast majority of those games.
Mid-table Fiorentina are warm favourites here but they have won only one of their latest eight matches and, like their opponents, have been stalemate specialists all campaign, especially recently as five of those eight games have finished all-square.
The problem for the Viola is keeping out goals, with only one clean sheet in their last 11 fixtures and a trio of 3-3 home draws already in 2019.
The frequency with which these clubs draw matches cannot be avoided here and while insufficient compensation for their Coppa Italia exit to Fiorentina, a point for Torino would probably be fairly acceptable.
