Finland host Liechtenstein for their Matchday 9 EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash looking to punch their ticket to the Final tournament with important home points, sitting 2nd placed in Group J with a five-point gap behind them and two games to play as they – quite surprisingly – snatched the 2nd spot ahead of Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Greece.
Huuhkajat have been rather tough to score against but we’ve seen them concede six of their eight goals conceded in losses to Italy (1-2) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (4-1) before ending the streak with a convincing 3-0 win over Armenia. They will now hope to put on a similar display in front of the home fans and we do see them doing so.
Liechtenstein struggled to make an impact but still played a role in Finland’s success, as they held off Greece (1-1) and Armenia (1-1) in September and October, respectively. They’ve seen a thrashing 0-5 loss to Italy last time out, though, and could be in for another disappointment on the day.
Blue and Reds last saw a win back in September (2-0 over Gibraltar) and saw nine losses as well as three draws in 12 outings since. They’ve been conceding numbers of goals on the road regularly but still conceded just one in a 1-1 draw in Athens, which will have Helvi Kolvidsson wanting more of the same here.
We don’t really see them snatching any points, though, and we’ll now rather back Finland to a comfortable win with a three-goal Winning Margin at 6/4 with Paddy Power. They will surely be dominant but haven’t scored four or more goals since March 2018, which does add to such a belief.
For those hoping for such a one-sided contest, backing Teemu Pukki to score anytime comes off as a banker bet at 1/2 with William Hill. He’s been in red-hot form this term and we now hope to see him extending such a streak with a goal at Telia 5G –areena.
