Finland vs Italy Match Preview
The top two teams in Group J go head to head in Finland on Sunday night, with three important points at stake. A win here for Italy and their place as group winners looks almost assured, while a win for Finland would pull the teams back level.
Italy won 3-1 in Armenia on Thursday night, a comfortable success where they didn’t really need to get out of second gear to come out on top. That took them to five wins from five games in the competition, and although they have four games left after this one, a win here with the games they have remaining will wrap up top spot in the group for them.
Finland are chasing behind and looking to back second place, although Bosnia may well have something to say about that, they are in third right now. They have won four of their five games so far though, and generally been very impressive. Their only defeat came away in Italy, and other than that this has been a very solid campaign so far.
Although Finland have been impressive and performed to a better standard than we expected, they are nowhere near the same level as Italy. The Italians will know that a win here will make their life comfortable moving forward and the top spot will be almost theirs. That is exactly what we think they will get here, we are backing Italy to come out on top in this one.
