Finland vs Greece Match Preview
Finland have opened the campaign with a 2-0 loss in Italy but bounced back to great confidence since then, now sitting 2nd placed in Group J with a three-point gap behind them and hosting Greece for their Matchday 5 EURO 2020 Qualifiers on the back of a three-match winning streak.
Huuhkajat have thus beaten Armenia (0-2), Bosnia-Herzegovina (2-0), and Liechtenstein (0-2), led by in-form Teemu Pukki in the final third and feeling very solid at the back along the way. They’ve kept clean sheets on all of the occasions and Markku Kanerva now has a lot to build on here.
Greece have, on the other hand, seen a very disappointing streak after a solid start of the Qualifiers campaign – where they beat Liechtenstein (0-2) and snatched a very important point in Bosnia-Herzegovina (2-2). The 2-1 friendly loss to Turkey hardly felt worrying but dropping six points in the hands of Italy (0-3) and Armenia (2-3) will be.
Zeca and Konstatinos Fortounis both found but this was no consolation for Ethniki in Athens, as they saw Armenia jump them on the table and the gap to the top of the table extend to eight points. They’ve been one of the top candidates for the 2nd spot and now obviously have a lot to prove in Finland.
We do feel they’ll show off as a very tough nut to crack and we’ll now go against many as we back Greece to snatch a point on Thursday, sticking our necks out for a Draw at 2/1 with William Hill – which feels like more than a lively longshot.
We have seen both sides scoring on the regular and finding the net could be crucial in such an attempt on the visitors’ end, which now has us going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 11/8 with bet365. Finland have been tough to score against but we don’t see them keeping hold of such a streak on the day.
