Dallas vs Portland Timbers Match Preview

Dallas have made a solid if unspectacular start to the Major League Soccer season. In their six matches in the league so far this season, Toros have managed to pick up 10 points, winning twice and drawing at home and managing one victory on the road over Real Salt Lake. They have some revenge to exact this weekend against Portland Timbers too having lost to them in the play-offs last season.

After a fourth placed finish in the Western Conference last year, the same again will be expected of the Texan outfit as they’ve added the likes of Honduran midfielder Bryan Acosta and Brazilian defender Bressan to their squad but don’t quite seem to have the quality to push on for a potential Supporters Shield win. After a disappointing defeat at Philadelphia Union last weekend can they bounce back here at

Portland Timbers have enjoyed some of their most successful seasons in the last few years. Having become MLS Cup champions for the first time back in 2015, they’ve competed towards the top end of the Western Conference since then and they managed to reach the final of the MLS PlayOffs last year before eventually falling at the hands of an Atlanta United side that have quickly established themselves as one of the top teams in the USA.

Despite performing above expectations last season, the Timbers have endured a very tough start to the campaign. Having picked up just one point from their first five matches of the season, it could be a tough first few months for Giovanni Savarese’s team as they have to start the season constantly on the road with their home, Providence Park, being renovated back in Oregon. You can back the away win at odds of 18/5 with BetVictor.

We’re backing a comfortable home win for Toros here. They’ve enjoyed a strong start to the season and bagged plenty of goals of late including four in the win over Real Salt Lake the weekend before last. The Timbers on the other hands have been shipping goals for fun, losing their last four consecutive matches and losing three of them by more than one goal. That’s why we’re backing Dallas on a one goal handicap at odds of 15/8 with Bet365.
