Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview

Tottenham travel to Merseyside for a second consecutive Sunday 4.30pm kick-off – and this time we think they will return home with some reward for their efforts.

Spurs could not have made a better start last weekend on the other side of Stanley Park, scoring in the first minute through Harry Kane. But they were ground down by Liverpool, who got well on top and secured the points with a Mo Salah penalty 15 minutes from time.

Kane, for one, will certainly be relishing the prospect of journeying north again – as the stats above outline, he has a fantastic record against Everton with eight goals in his last four appearances against them, indeed Spurs in general have had much the better of the recent head-to-head contests.

Managers Mauricio Pochettino and Marco Silva have both been under their fair share of pressure this term and defeat for either here would raise further questions about their future, especially the latter following Everton’s fifth league defeat in six games, 3-2 at Brighton.

Silva can only just be keeping the wolf from the door, although the midweek 2-0 home victory over Watford that took the Toffees into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals will not have done him any harm.

Neither team here has outstanding credentials in terms of backing them for a win, so the spoils may be shared and that would probably be a satisfactory outcome for both considering the underwhelming campaigns they are experiencing so far.
