Everton vs Manchester United Fansbet Preview

The scale of rebuilding required was laid bare at the Camp Nou as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team were thoroughly outclassed, losing 4-0 on aggregate, so the Norwegian has a busy summer ahead of him.

Although David de Gea hasn’t endured the greatest of seasons he won’t normally offer up such howlers as for the second goal, but the defence in front of him contained the likes of Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, all of whom were signed under Sir Alex Ferguson and started in a defeat to Basel back in 2011, which just goes to show how poorly they’ve recruited in that area during the intervening years.

Everton vs Manchester United Match Preview

Everton could still earn a place in next year’s Europa League despite the fact that they have been a little underwhelming at times in Marco Silva’s first season in charge on Merseyside. The Portuguese manager was clearly targeted in advance by the Goodison Park hierarchy and after a few eye-catching signings in the summer, the minimum expectation would have been 7th place, which they can still achieve as they currently occupy ninth place, just one point behind Leicester in that coveted spot.

The Toffees have struggled for consistency all season long and despite some terrific results along the way, they have shown weaknesses plenty of times and none more so than in the last few weeks. After gaining a draw with title-chasing rivals Liverpool plus wins over top six outfits Arsenal and Chelsea in their last three home games, Silva’s men fell to defeat at the hands of already-relegated Fulham last weekend. Can they bounce back here at 11/5 with William Hill?

Manchester United’s season has been a real rollercoaster ride. Under Jose Mourinho, the team continued to struggle and the supporters at Old Trafford grew increasingly frustrated with their side’s performances, but the decision to hire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his replacement until the end of the season appeared to be the catalyst for an upturn in form, with United going 11 games unbeaten in all competitions upon the Norwegian’s return.

However, despite Solskjaer being handed the job on a permanent basis recently, the Red Devils have seen a return to their former ways in recent weeks and make the short trip to Merseyside this weekend on the back of a disappointing run of five defeats in their last seven games, which has included their exit out of both the FA Cup and the Champions League as well as some key defeats in the league. Can they earn three vital points on the road here at 6/5 with PaddyPower?

We envisage a share of the spoils in this game. It may have been some time since either of these sides shared the spoils in a Premier League game, but it’s tough to pick a winner here. Everton have been strong in front of their own fans against decent opposition of late but Manchester United need a return to form here and won’t go down without a fight following a disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona in midweek. The draw is 5/2 with Bet365.

It could be a low-scoring game here. United have averaged less than a goal a game over their last seven outings with a return of just six goals in that time, whereas Under 2.5 goals has been a successful bet in each of Everton’s last four games in the Premier League and indeed they have kept clean sheets against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in their last three home fixtures. Under 2.5 goals again here is available at 10/11 with PaddyPower.
