Everton vs Leicester City Match Preview
Both teams drew 1-1 at the weekend and Everton would have been much the happier, but it’s Leicester whom we are backing to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals at Goodison Park.
Leicester lost further ground to Liverpool in an increasingly one-sided Premier League title race when held at home by Norwich, ending their run of nine consecutive victories.
Everton’s single point collected at Old Trafford was much more welcome, for they were hanging on towards the end having taken the lead against Manchester United – but at least it maintained the momentum generated by Duncan Ferguson replacing Marco Silva as manager on a temporary basis.
Ferguson will again be in charge of the Toffees here while they decide who will take over full time, but his unbeaten record is sure to be put to a very serious test by a club 21 points ahead of them in the league – three of which were gained at the start of this month when Leicester scored a last-gasp goal to win 2-1 at home to Everton.
What may encourage the Merseysiders here is that Leicester’s next two matches are against Manchester City and Liverpool, so the last thing they would want is any injuries to key players ahead of fixtures that will determine whether they have any chance at all of challenging for the title.
But despite their slip-up against Norwich, Leicester were still much the better team on the day and are trusted to get the job done here in 90 minutes and stay in the running for a trophy that looks their most attainable piece of silverware this term.
