Everton vs Burnley Match Preview
Everton’s home form has been excellent in the last two months, but they are not reliable every week and there looks to be some value in keeping Burnley on side here.
The Toffees’ five biggest matches of the season at Goodison Park have all occurred since the start of February and while they lost the first of those 2-0 to Manchester City, since then they have sent Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United packing without scoring a goal between them.
Results have got progressively better too because while the Merseyside derby finished 0-0, since then Everton have won 2-0 and 1-0 respectively against Chelsea and Arsenal and then saved the best until most recently with a 4-0 Easter Sunday drubbing of United.
However, although the obvious explanation was that they were on their travels, it has to be disappointing that Marco Silva’s side have collected only one point from a possible six at Crystal Palace and Fulham recently, failing to score a goal on those trips to the capital.
They are clearly still a work in progress and will probably miss out on Europe again next season, especially if they cannot beat Burnley whose away form has been very good in 2019 – three wins, three draws and just two defeats, one of which was at Liverpool.
The Clarets made Manchester City pull out all the stops to beat them last weekend and, in the spoiling role that suits them so well, they could just unsettle Everton more than some of the other, more illustrious visitors to this venue of late.
