Espanyol vs Valencia Match Preview
Valencia travel to Cornella de Llobregat for their Matchday 12 clash at Espanyol just days after hosting Sevilla for their mid-week clash, as the busy schedule continues and they look to put an underwhelming spell of results behind them. Indeed, Celades’ men have been scoring goals but struggled to capitalize and will now need more.
Los Che thus found the net in all of their last four outings across competitions but managed just one win (2-1 over Alaves) along the way, also seeing draws against Atletico Madrid (1-1) and Lille (1-1) as well as a 3-1 loss at Osasuna most recently. They obviously struggled with their defensive slip-ups and have work to do if they’re to climb the table.
Espanyol have seen similar woes through September and consequently sit in the relegation zone after ten games played. They have beaten Ludogorets (0-1) and Levante (0-1) last week and come into their mid-week clash in Bilbao in better spirits, with high hopes they can build on it.
RCDE haven’t bagged a home win since August, though, and this will be even more worrying. They saw Granada (0-3), Real Sociedad (1-3), Valladolid (0-2), and Villarreal (0-1) all snatch the points, while only holding Ferencvaros to a 1draw in the process. Home points will prove crucial to escape the red zone and we should see them very motivated to earn them here.
We will back Espanyol to hold off the tough rivals on the day and we’ll now stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils in a Draw priced at 12/5 with bet365, which seems like a great value at this point.
We do feel a lot will depend on their defensive display for Espanyol and with that in mind, we’re now also going for a few goals and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 13/20 with Paddy Power. Neither of the sides impressed up front lately and backing the bet is simply hoping for more of the same.
