Espanyol vs Real Madrid Match Preview
Real Madrid travel to Cornella de Llobregat for their Matchday 21 clash just days after their thrilling Copa del Rey win over Girona (4-2), where they connected their fourth win in five outings – with only a 1-0 loss at Leganes in Copa del Rey interrupted the streak.
Los Blancos have confirmed their fine goalscoring form as Lucas Vazquez, Sergio Ramos (x2), and Karim Benzema all found the net on Thursday, which should have them very motivated to impress at RCDE Stadium too. Santiago Solari’s men are desperate for consistency on the road in their attempts to close the ten-point gap to pace-setters Barcelona, which also proves to the point.
Espanyol have been unpredictable and they’ve seen a thrashing loss at Eibar (3-0) and an exciting 1-1 draw at Espanyol in Copa del Rey this week already, which could make for a schedule tough to cope with and add more to Rubi’s worries as they sit just points above the relegation zone.
Periquitos have rediscovered their fine form in front of the home fans early in 2019, though, and we’ve seen them beat Leganes (1-0), Villarreal (3-1), and hold Betis to a 1-1 draw in three January outings at this ground. This promises another solid challenge now but we do see Real taking it on.
We’ll thus back the visitors to snatch all three points and we’ll stick with an Away win at 5/6 with Black Type, hoping to see Real building on their fine form in the final third and outgun the unpredictable rivals to the important points.
However, it will be no easy task and we expect less than a great challenge from Rubi’s men. We feel we should see goals and we’ll back a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 10/11 with William Hill and feels like more of a banker bet at the moment.
