Espanyol vs Real Betis Match Preview
Espanyol host Real Betis for their Copa del Rey clash on Thursday evening after they outclassed Villarreal (3-1) and made it to the Quarter-finals in front of the home fans just last week, hoping to build on the performance and lift their team spirits here once again.
Periquitos have seen another troubled trip meanwhile as Eibar netted three in a convincing win at Ipurua (3-0), and Rubi now has to look to lift his side’s spirits again. They’ve been tougher here and rightfully hope for more, after also beating Leganes (1-0) in January and bagging six of seven La Liga wins here.
Real Betis have, on the other end, ended a five-match winless streak of their own as they beat Girona (3-2), where Canales converted a last-gasp penalty. They’ve struggled to turn clashes their way and this will be more worrying with a very unpredictable run on the road.
Beticos have held Eibar (1-1) to a draw in La Liga and went through past Real Sociedad on away goals in a 2-2 aggregate draw, where losses to Huesca (2-1) and Real Madrid (1-2) feel like no more of a confidence booster. They have been scoring goals on the regular, though, and will now hope they can get a positive result too.
We will still back Espanyol to put on another solid display in front of the home fans and earn an advantage through a Home win priced at 7/5 with Betfair. They have been tough to beat at RCDE Stadium and we feel Betis will have troubles too.
However, there should be a lot to play for in the second leg too and we expect to see the visitors get on the scoresheet too, as we go for a Yes on Both teams to score at 7/10 with William Hill. We have seen both sides scoring and conceding many goals, which does serve as further evidence for such a bet.
