England vs Czech Republic Fansbet Preview

After their World Cup and Nations League exploits, it is fair to say that the nation has fallen back in love with the England international team, as they look to build on their recent success in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier against the Czech Republic. Gareth Southgate has done a superb job at the helm of this young team and with so many of his squad key to their respective club form both domestically and on the European stage, the England manager will demand an opening three points at Wembley.

England vs Czech Republic Match Preview

England have built on their excellent World Cup campaign by reaching the UEFA Nations League semi-finals – and now aim to keep up the good work in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Given a very difficult group for the inaugural Nations League, the Three Lions’ four-match programme all came down to the last 12 minutes at Wembley where they turned a 1-0 deficit against Croatia, and potential relegation, into a 2-1 triumph and a place in the semi-finals.

Thus Gareth Southgate’s side could claim long overdue silverware in June if they can deny the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland the first ever Nations League title.

But firstly, England have to play a couple of European Championship qualifiers against the Czech Republic and then Montenegro away on Monday, knowing they have already secured a play-off berth as a worst-case scenario thanks to their achievements in the Nations League.

The Czechs have been infrequent opponents of England over the last few decades and this season they had a middling Nations League campaign, twice beating their neighbours Slovakia but losing both matches against the Ukraine.

Manager Jaroslav Silhavy originally named a squad of only 20 for the game in England and Tuesday’s friendly match against Brazil in Prague, whereas his opposite number Gareth Southgate has kept his 23-man party topped up following four withdrawals due to injury.

Appearances for in-form one-cap James Ward-Prowse and untried youngsters Declan Rice and Callum Hudson-Odoi would be interesting, but whomever Southgate chooses to field England should be too good.
