El Salvador vs Jamaica Match Preview
Jamaica have beaten United States (0-1) with a single goal from Shamar Nicholson ahead of Gold Cup and they built on the performance early in the tournament, beating Honduras (3-2) in what ended a narrow win as they conceded a late goal after Dever Orgill opened the scoresheet with a brace and Damion Lowe added one.
Reggae Boyz have thus built on their consistency and they now meet El Salvador at BBVA Stadium looking to capitalize on it, where points would make a decisive step towards the top 2 cut and a spot in the Quarter-finals. They will be very motivated and we feel Theodore Whitmore has no tough task to keep their team spirits high.
El Salvador have narrowly beaten Curacao (0-1) on Matchday 1, though, and have a lot to build on themselves after a single goal from Nelson Bonilla proved enough for all three points in Kingston. They returned to a winning streak after seeing it interrupted by Japan (2-0) in early June and will now have high hopes of their own.
Indeed, La Azul y Blanco beat Haiti twice (1-0 and 1-0), Guatemala (3-1), Jamaica (2-0), and Peru (0-2) beforehand, where they enjoyed narrow clashes and proved themselves a very tough defensive line to crack. We now expect more of the same but don’t see them snatching anything from the fixture for it.
We thus hope to see Jamaica outgun the rivals to the all-important points and we’ll back them to win at Evens with William Hill, which caught a lot of attention with many in the know despite a strong challenge El Salvador should be.
We do feel we’re in for goals and with that in mind, we’re now also going for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 7/4 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen Jamaica scoring and conceding lately and this feels overpriced at this point.
