Eintracht Frankfurt vs Mainz Match Preview
Eintracht Frankfurt have put on a great challenge but still saw a great Europa League disappointment as Chelsea proceeded to the Final on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw, where they extended a five-match winless streak across competitions.
Die Adler have seen a thrashing 6-1 loss at Bayer Leverkusen just last week and the rivals now breathe down their necks in a chase for Champions League spots next term, together with Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, and Hoffenheim. They have a very tough schedule and a lot to prove, with a trip to Bayern Munich on the final day of the campaign.
Mainz, on the other hand, come into the match on the back of a thriller 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig, where a late equalizer from Jean-Philippe Mateta saved a point and marked a return after a disappointing 1-0 loss at rock-bottomed Hannover.
Die Nullfunfer have obviously struggled to produce on the road and this has proven costly time and time again, with a streak of seven losses since early February. They haven’t been able to bag numbers of goals on the regular and with defensive inconsistency, this makes it hard to believe in an upset at Commerzbank-Arena.
We will thus back Eintracht Frankfurt to secure the points and do so with confidence, where we back a Home win to Nil at 11/4 with bet365 – which seems great value seeing Adi Hutter’s men do so when they win at this ground.
However, we don’t see this as a very one-sided contest either and we’ll thus back a low-scoring clash with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 12/5 with William Hill, which even seems overpriced for those hoping not to see the visitors find the net.
