Dundalk vs Slovan Bratislava Match Preview
Slovan Bratislava felt dominant as they hosted Dundalk for the first leg of their Europa League clash, only bagging a 1-0 win with a very late winner from David Holman who made the best from a ricochet and secured a one-goal advantage ahead of the Tuesday’s trip to Dublin.
Sky Blues have thus extended a six-match winning streak across competitions and while they have a busy schedule in an attempt to build on it, we expect them very motivated once again. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals on the regular and kept clean sheets in all of the last four outings, which will serve as even more of a boost to their confidence.
Dundalk have seen a Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round exit in the hands of Qarabag with a 3-0 loss suffered in Baku. Vinny Perth’s men obviously struggled to bounce back and this has made it hard to cope in Slovakia, which will have the crowd at Tallaght Stadium hoping for more.
Lilywhites have been a tougher side to beat here but now have a lot to prove after an underwhelming setup, where they were lucky not to concede a penalty on three separate occasions. We feel they could have their hands full now again and we don’t see them getting more from this one either.
We thus feel Slovan Bratislava have what it takes to make it through to the next round and we’ll now stick our necks out for them to do so on the back of a Draw priced at 21/10 with William Hill – which looks like the best approach to the fixture now.
However, we feel Slovan will have to find the net to do so and with that in mind, we’re going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 19/20 with Paddy Power. We have seen the sides enjoying exciting games lately and we now hope for another such occasion.
