Dulwich Hamlet vs Carlisle Match Preview
Carlisle United travel to London for their 1st Round FA Cup clash looking to build on a 2-1 win over Macclesfield Town, where they fell behind early on but completed a comeback with goals from Harry McKirdy late in the first and Ryan Loft late in the second half.
Blue have been very unpredictable, though, and this became very obvious on the road where they now look for their first win since mid-September. They’ve seen losses to Bradford (3-1), Newport (1-0), and Plymouth (2-0) since, only ending the unwanted streak with a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient late in October.
Dulwich will surely not be the same sort of a challenge, though, and the National League South rivals will have to search for an upset in front of the home fans. They struggled for consistency just as much and saw Bath City (1-3) snatch all three points at this ground and end their seven-match unbeaten streak on Saturday.
Hamlet have been conceding goals on the regular here and this could be even more worrying, as shutting down Carlisle could prove a lot more of a task defensively than some suggest for Carlisle’s recent goalscoring woes on the road. While the fans will be hoping for an FA Cup miracle, we don’t see them making it happen.
We will thus go for Carlisle to secure their 2nd Round ticket at Champion Hill Stadium and we’ll back them to win at 8/11 with Paddy Power, which looks like great value seeing the obvious difference in depth of quality and ambitions between the sides.
However, we feel there will be no excitement lacking on the day and we hope to see the visitors only outgunning Dulwich to do so. We’ll thus also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 4/7 with bet365 and has already caught the eye of a few heavy hitters.
