Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen Match Preview
Borussia Dortmund host Bayer Leverkusen for their Matchday 23 clash amid a troubled spell of form, where they look to return to the winning ways after five outings without one – desperate for points to build on the three-point gap at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Die Borussen have been held to league draws by Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1), Hoffenheim (3-3), and Nurnberg (0-0) which sees Bayern Munich close in what shapes a thriller title chase. They’ve seen a DFB Pokal exit in the hands of Werder Bremen (on penalties after a 3-3 draw) as well as a 3-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur in Champions League along the way, which could be even more worrying for Lucien Favre and his men.
Bayer Leverkusen will now hope to capitalize on such woes and bag their fifth Bundesliga win in a row, hoping to catch up with the league’s top 4 as they sit five points behind 4th placed RB Leipzig after 22 games played. They have an even busier schedule of recent, though, and have a lot to prove just days after the Europa League clash against Krasnodar.
Die Werkself have held Krasnodar to a goalless draw in the first leg but it’s still questionable whether it will be enough, also seeing a 2-1 loss at Heidenheim in DFB Pokal along the way. Such struggles for consistency on the road could be trouble on their hands, despite coming off a comfortable 2-0 home win over Fortuna Dusseldorf most recently.
We will thus back Borussia Dortmund to turn this one their way and bag all three points, where a Home win comes at 17/20 with William Hill as BVB has to base success on displays we’ve been used to earlier in the season.
Still, we expect a tough challenge from the visitors and we expect to see goals on both ends as we also back Over 2.5 Goals FT at 1/2 with bet365. We have seen the home side regularly netting numbers of goals and enjoying such clashes here, which has many rating this a banker bet already.
