Viktoria Plzen are fancied to have done just enough in the first leg of this tie to build a platform that can take them through to the last 16 of the Europa League.

The reigning Czech champions overturned a half-time deficit last week, earned for Dinamo by a Dani Olmo goal, when defender Ludek Pernica scored twice after the break.

That means a draw in the Croatian capital will be enough to send Plzen through and it looks a distinctly achievable result for them, despite the bookmakers quoting Dinamo as slight favourites to gain a victory that would keep them alive having bagged an away goal.

Plzen have returned from their winter break in fine form and they have now won seven of their last eight matches and drawn the other, the successes including two excellent ones in the Champions League group stage away to CSKA Moscow and at home to Roma.

Those triumphs ensured Pavel Vrba’s side had Europa League football to look forward to in 2019, and a 2-0 win at home to Czech league leaders Slavia Prague on Sunday meant Plzen are now only three points off top spot and in with every chance of retaining their title.

Dinamo are also going very well just now, but in a tie that is evenly balanced at the halfway stage we will side with the Czechs to capitalise on their slender advantage by avoiding defeat.
