Dijon vs Lens Match Preview
Lens travel to Dijon for the return clash of their Ligue 1 Play-offs clash just days after hosting the top-flight rivals on Thursday, looking for an upset which would see them earn a promotion against all odds after a thriller finish to their Ligue 2 campaign.
Sang et Or only made the top 5 cut on goal difference as they jumped Lorient with three wins in a row and a 5-2 win over Orleans on the final day of the campaign. They’ve turned narrow clashes against Paris (on penalties after a 1-1 draw) and Troyes (1-2 in extra time) their way through the Play-offs and will now want another such quest on road.
Dijon have seen similar thrills late in their campaign and they only earned their spot in the Play-offs with a 2-1 win over Toulouse last week, where Naim Sliti and Julio Tavares found the net to complete a second-half comeback in front of the home fans.
Mustards have thus proven their worth at Stade Gaston-Gerard once again, after beating Rennes (3-2) and Strasbourg (2-1) in two similarly exciting games since mid-April – finding late winners on both occasions. They’ll now want more of the same but we don’t see them making it happen.
With a lot to play for on the day, we expect both sides going for the win in another exciting clash but we’ll now stick our necks out for a Draw – which comes off as more than a lively longshot at this point.
Still, we expect goals and with that in mind, it feels Lens will have to cope in the final third as we now also go for a Yes on Both teams to score. We have seen the visitors prove themselves a very tough nut to crack through the Play-offs and we expect them to do the same on the day.
