Derby vs Wigan Match Preview
Derby saw their five-game unbeaten run come to an end at the weekend as they went down 3-0 at Charlton and while the final-score was harsh they can have complaints about the result. It increases the pressure on Phillip Cocu who is under-pressure after a slow start as County boss.
At the Pride Park, the Rams have been decent this season losing just one of their last six and winning each of their last two. Three of the last four at this ground have gone under 2.5 goals though each of these three have seen two goals.
Wigan beat high-flying Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the weekend to continue their win one, lose one sequence of the last five. The result means that Athletic sat in 18th place going into the mid-week round of fixtures.
Away from the DW Stadium, the Latics have really struggled picking up just one point from the six they have played. The Lancashire outfit have netted just three goals on the road this campaign blanking four times.
The respective home and away form suggests that this should be a comfortable victory for Derby and the odds reflect it. That said rumours continue to persist about the future of manager Phillip Cocu being under threat and Wigan can take heart from how well they played at the weekend. Take the Latics and the draw in the double chance market. Jamal Lowe got his first goal of the season at the weekend and for a player who did well at League One level this could be the start of a nice little run.
