Derby vs Reading Match Preview
Derby County host Reading for their Matchday 28 clash on Saturday, just days after taking on Southampton in a replay of their FA Cup clash – looking to bounce back after seeing their unbeaten streak ended by Leeds (2-0) at Elland Road last week.
Rams have beaten Norwich (3-4) and held both Middlesbrough (1-1) and Southampton (2-2) to draws, regularly finding the net and now hoping to replicate such performances up front – primarily led by Jack Marriott in the final third. We have seen them as a very tough side to beat at this ground but there’s a lot to prove on the day as well.
Reading have only ended a nine-match winless streak on their end as they beat similarly struggling Rotherham United (2-0), closing the gap to an escape from the relegation zone to just two points. However, getting it in Derby could be a very tough task indeed.
Royals have struggled to score goals on the road and this could be even more of a worry for Jose Gomes, as his men found the net in just two of their last eight trips. Derby will thus want to capitalize on their woes and keep up their rather confident spell of results at this ground.
We will back the home side to do just that and we’ll go for Derby to win to Nil here, which comes at an eye-catching 2/1 with Ladbrokes and has seen support from many value seekers already.
Still, we don’t feel we’re in for a very one-sided clash and it shouldn’t be smooth sailing, as we now also back Under 2.5 Goals FT at 21/20 with BetVictor. We have seen such contests in three of Derby’s last four home outings and this feels like further evidence for such a bet.
