Derby vs Birmingham Match Preview
Derby drew 1-1 with Leeds last weekend to make it back-to-back draws in a result that was completely against the run of play. It does though stretch their winless run to seven and off-field issues resulting in the loss of captain Richard Keogh for the season will not help matters.
At Pride Park, the Rams are winless this season playing four times with three of these ending in a draw and one in defeat. The last three matches here have seen both teams score with each of the last two ending 1-1.
Birmingham lost 1-0 at home to Preston last time out to end their two-game winning run and make it three wins and three defeats in their last six. The last two matches the second city side have played have ended 1-0.
Away from St Andrew’s, the Blues have had a mixed set of results with victories at Brentford and Charlton and heavy defeats at Forest and Swansea. None of the four they have played on their travels have seen both teams net.
The hosts are favourites to win this one but given their on and off field issues we would not be rushing to back them. At the prices taking Birmingham with the safety of the draw no bet option looks the best shout given they have looked a little better than their Midlands rival this season. In addition, Lukas Jutkiewicz was unlucky not to score last weekend and he will fancy his chances of netting here against a Rams defence that has looked anything but comfortable this season.
