Czech Republic vs Brazil Match Preview
The Czech Republic have only managed to reach the World Cup finals on once occasions since they began competing as an independent nation back in 1998. However, the European Championships have been more kind to them over the years and the Central Europeans have managed to qualify for each of the last six competitions which means that Friday’s 5-0 mauling at the hands of England will come as a cause for concern.
Lokomotiva didn’t manage to secure at least a play-off spot from the UEFA Nations League after beating Slovakia home and away but losing both of their fixtures against the Ukraine, meaning they are more than likely going to have to finish above Bulgaria and Montenegro if they’re to stand any chance of qualifying for Euro 2020 should England finish top of the group as is expected. Can they earn a huge morale-boosting win in this friendly fixture at 9/1 with PaddyPower.
Brazil will have been disappointed to have crashed out of the World Cup in the final eight stage. The Samba Boys are always among the favourites for any major tournament and after the embarrassment of their 7-1 semi-final defeat at the hands of Germany back in 2014, they will have been keen for revenge in Russia. Instead, after progressing through to the Quarter Finals they were beaten by a Belgium side that lost to France in the Semi Finals.
Having stuck with Tite in the managerial role despite that final eight exit in Russia, the Selecao have returned to action with some decent form having won six and drawn one of their seven friendly fixtures after the World Cup. That one draw however did come against Central American minnows Panama on Saturday afternoon so they’ll be keen to return to winning ways at the first possible attempt here at odds of 1/3 with Bet365.
The Brazilian backline has been in particularly strong form in these friendly fixtures, keeping clean sheets in six consecutive matches before that tied clash with Panama over the weekend. The Czech Republic are overly reliant on Roma youngster Patrick Schick in the attacking ranks and have struggled going forward of late, scoring only twice in their last four matches. That’s why we’re backing the away win to nil at evens with PaddyPower.
Gabriel Jesus will be expecting to start after coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Panama over the weekend. The Manchester City forward has not been in his best form this season but he has still racked up 11 goals in just 26 caps so far in his international career and he will be expected to be among the goals here with no Neymar to lead the line for the visitors. He’s our anytime scorer pick at 11/8 with Bet365.
