Curacao vs El Salvador Match Preview
Curacao travel to Kingston for their Matchday 1 Gold Cup clash against El Salvador in a great mood, after beating Vietnam (on penalties after a 1-1 draw) and bagging their sixth win in seven outings since March 2018, with only Antigua and Barbuda (2-1) interrupting the streak.
Remko Bicentini’s men have been scoring goals on the regular and we now expect them in great shape once again, despite a tougher challenge looming and a clash against the side they’ve beaten just once in 19 head-to-head occasions – with 12 losses and six draws also on the records.
El Salvador come into the match looking to prove such a character and bounce from a 2-0 loss to Japan, which saw their five-match winning streak across competitions ended. They’ve been rock-solid defensively but still have a lot to prove if they’re to make an impact in Group C.
Los Cuscatlecos have kept clean sheets in narrow wins over Jamaica (2-0), Peru (0-2), and Haiti (1-0) in three clashes beforehand, which should have Carlos de Los Cobos asking for more of the same from his men at the back. However, we don’t see them shutting down the opposition.
We will thus stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils at Independence Park, as we go for a Draw priced at 9/4 with bet365. We’ve seen both very tough to beat lately and while this comes off as a very tough clash to call, it does feel like the best approach to the fixture.
We should be in for goals and while we expect a narrow occasion, we’ll also go for a Yes on Both teams to score at Evens with Paddy Power. Both sides have been scoring regularly over the past couple of months and this looks like further evidence for such a bet.
