Crystal Palace vs Everton Match Preview
Crystal Palace endured a tough start to the season again this year and appeared for some time as though they may be in a relegation battle again. However, much like last season, their form has picked up in the second half of the campaign and they have risen up the bottom half of the division and into the relative comfort of mid-table to currently occupy 12th place with just a handful of games left.
Given that they’re a mid-table outfit form has been unsurprisingly unpredictable in the last few weeks of the campaign, but the Eagles have responded well from their disappointing FA Cup Quarter Final defeat against Watford to win three of their last five including an impressive away victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last time out. Can they follow that up with another three points here at William Hill.
Everton ironically may end up winning ‘The Everton Trophy’ after all this season. With the Toffees generally seen as the best team outside of the dominant top six, the seventh spot in the table has been ironically named in their honour by some fans on social media and they may actually end up in that spot despite an inconsistent first season under Portuguese boss Marco Silva as they currently sit in eighth, one point behind Watford with just three games left.
Silva will be particularly impressed with his team’s performances in recent weeks as they have been one of few teams to take points off rivals Liverpool, plus beaten top six sides Arsenal, Chelsea and emphatically Manchester United last weekend at Goodison Park to haul themselves back into contention for a spot in the Europa League should Manchester City win the FA Cup. You can back them for another three points here at 13/8 with PaddyPower.
Although Palace have enjoyed some strong performances of late and shocked everyone with that win at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, we can’t see them overcoming an Everton outfit here that have looked great in recent weeks against some of the strongest teams in the division. The bookies make this a tight game and we can see why so it may be worth using the insurance of a Draw No Bet punt on the visitors at 5/6 with Bet365.
Goals are to be expected here. Everton smashed four past Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United outfit last weekend and have only failed to find the net in one of their last six outings. Crystal Palace meanwhile have been more of a threat in front of goal in the second half of the season and particularly so in front of their own fans where they haven’t failed to score in any of their last nine outings. Both teams to score is available at 4/5 with William Hill.
