Crystal Palace vs Derby Match Preview
Crystal Palace failed to build on their Boxing Day win over West Ham (2-1) but still extended a three-match unbeaten streak as they shared the spoils with Southampton (1-1) and Norwich (1-1) in a busy schedule. They now host Derby for their FA Cup clash, hoping to build on the performances and make their way to the 4th Round.
Eagles thus suffered just one loss in their last eight outings and we’ll surely see them in a good mood at Selhurst Park once again, after beating Bournemouth (1-0) and holding Brighton to a 1-1 draw in December as well. They’ve been conceding goals on the regular but still showed more in front of the home crowd, which does promise a strong challenge on Sunday as well.
Derby have, on the other hand, connected two wins in a row for the first time this term as they beat Charlton (2-1) and Barnsley (2-1) this week already. They have been shaky at the back on occasions but still earned great pick-me-ups, escaping the immediate danger zone and sitting ten points clear of the relegation zone.
Rams have struggled for goalscoring consistency on the road, though, and this will be more worrying. They failed to find the net on six trips in a row ahead of their Boxing Day trip to Wigan (1-1) and Philip Cocu’s men have a lot to prove on their trip to London, desperate to build on such consistency at this point.
Still, we don’t see them making it three in a row and we’ll now rather stick with Crystal Palace to secure a ticket to the 4th Round with a Home win priced at 7/10 with William Hill, which does feel like a solid approach to the fixture.
Indeed, Derby have struggled on the road and this could make all the difference now as well. We thus hope Crystal Palace will base such a success on a tough defensive approach and we’ll go for them to keep a clean sheet, which comes at 13/10 with BetVictor.
