Cruzeiro vs Corinthians Match Preview
Cruzeiro have finally ended their winless streak with a great Copa do Brasil win over Fluminense, where they conceded an amazing last-gasp equalizer but came away with a ticket to the Quarter-finals on penalties. They now host Corinthians hoping to build on such a pick-me-up and climb the Serie A table too.
Raposa have struggled defensively and this will be more worrying, though, as this was the fifth time in seven outings across competitions that they concede two or more goals. Mano Menezes’ men will need more if they’re to build on the 7-point tally on Saturday.
Indeed, Corinthians have seen a contrasting spell of form and the mid-week Copa do Brasil loss to Flamengo (0-1) only ended a four-match winning streak, where they beat Athletico PR (0-2), Deportivo Lara (2-0), Sao Paulo (1-0), and Deportivo Lara (0-2) again on the road.
Timao have been rock-solid defensively and they will want to bounce back to such performances once again, having kept clean sheets on all of the four occasions. They’ve had more trouble retaining consistency on the road, though, and this could mean a more exciting contest here.
We will now stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils at Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto and go for a Draw at 5/2 with bet365, which looks the best approach to the fixture and surely more than just a longshot.
However, we don’t see many goals on the day and with hopes we’ll see a deadlock tough to break, we’ll now also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 4/9 with bet365. We have seen two or fewer goals in all of Corinthians’ last nine outings, which does seem to add to such a belief at this point.
