Plymouth have seen relegation and a busy summer behind them, where they appointed Ryan Lowe as well as five players from financially struggling Bury in hope they can bounce back quickly and climb back to the League One with just one season spent in the fourth tier.
Pilgrims have struggled to pick it up through the pre-season, though, and we’ve seen them bag just one win in four outings as they beat AFC Wimbledon (0-2) but suffered losses to Truro City (1-0), Torquay United (3-1), and most recently Bristol Rovers (0-1). They will now want more and we do feel the visitors will be as motivated as ever.
Crewe Alexandra could thus be in for a tough task as they look to build on a solid pre-season run, where they bagged wins in all of the last six outings. They’ve beaten Burnley (1-0), Bala Town (2-5), and Wrexham (0-1) over the past two weeks and should now put on a tough challenge at Alexandra Stadium once again.
Railwaymen finished mid-table last term and based such a campaign on solid records at this ground, which will have them hoping for a positive start just as well. They have a lot to prove, though, and this could be indicative of their new campaign – as Nicky Hunt’s injury set them back defensively and could mean struggles for defensive consistency once again.
We do feel Plymouth will be a handful for the rivals on the day and we’ll now stick our necks out for them to snatch all three points, as we go for an Away win at 6/4 with Unibet – which feels like a lively longshot at this point.
However, we feel we’re in for an exciting contest and Crewe will be no easy side to overcome. With hope we’ll see just that, we’re now also backing a high-scoring contest on Saturday afternoon and going for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 21/20 with bet365.
